Health And BDSM Issues

What are the health issues that can affect BDSM play?

In my decade and a half experience, I can name quite a few. Luckily the worst that has happened to me is a cracked rib. But there are other issues that can arise.

Drugs and Alcohol

These do not mix well with BDSM play and the more intense the play, the worse it will be. Even (especially) drugs like Viagra and Cialis can be dangerous in BDSM play. If there is any chance of heart problems, engaging in play that is highly stimulating and taking these kinds of drugs will be super dangerous.

After Care – Coming Down

If you session is intense, then driving home may not be such a good idea. Take time to come back down to earth.

I remember after my first session, I was spaced out and quite unfit to drive on the road. The mistress deliberately kept me back and made me drink a coffee before I drove off. Bless her! In hindsight she was very sensible.

After Care – Antiseptic

In my heavy corporal sessions there is usually some broken skin. I always use an antiseptic at the end of session. I use it generously also. I can’t think of anything much worse than showing up at my doctors with an infected bum in among a multitude of cane welts.

Toy Hygeinie

This is a no brainer. Clean and antiseptic toys are essential. I have many of my own but no canes. The professional establishment I use is strict about cleaning up afer play. Every single time I see mistresses washing down canes, benches, anything that has been in the session.

I’m not into needle play, strap-on or similar – but surely this must be a key factor.

The golden rule – if you are not sue then ASK! If you don’t get the right answer, then DON’T PLAY. It is not worth it.
